The Art of Articles.
The raging storm was close to having had the better on the frail vessel during the night. Tom was still gathering and repairing the redeemable as the sun on the distant port side horizon rose as if granting us some truce. This could well be the start of a novel and not necessarily a one about sailing or about meteorological considerations. What the author does is hit the reader with an immediate entrance into the story, and what is true to a novel is also true to a webpage as well as to article writing; the first paragraph, sentence, picture, whatever is what will make the reader proceed all the way to the end or simply give up there and then. Article writing is easy, in so far as it only needs some 200 to 500 words on average and generally involves only one subject but to get the reader to remember the information is an art. Mastering the article art comes only after plenty of practice, as is the case with everything else. Giving light and entertainment to an article by the use of humour and intrigue but never overdone will draw the reader to investigate for more of the writer’s works. One trick is to think about what the best and liveliest sentence about the intended subject would be. Start with that one and then grow from it. The title may not be sufficient due to the very few words accredited to it. Remember, nobody wants to buy a camera; people will only buy a camera if they wish to take pictures.
