Travels into Scotland.
Family Vacations to Scotland. Even Hadrian the Roman General with his mighty armies feared them and built a wall right across the Cheviot Hills from coast to coast. By doing so, he had once, and for all sealed the limits of the Roman Empire. Strong and brave, yet joyful and proud is the epitome of Edinburgh’s yearly Military Tattoo, a festival of the world’s best military displays. Since 1950 below the majestic background of Edinburgh castle, the spectator is breath taken by the performance and displays of the proudest military forces of the free world under the distant echoes of the lone piper. A sound that has reached the battle fields afar, and will accompany your travels and discovering all along the land of Braveheart. This land is where Golf was invented and apparently by a community of monks on the east coast. A game that was frowned upon by King James II because it grew to such popularity that it endangered the required Sunday archery practice, it was therefore declared illegal by an act of parliament in 1457. Since then, the numbers of golf courses have thrived in all corners. So, if having never played golf in Scotland is as suspicious as not knowing where the best whiskey distilleries abound, then a whiskey trail is a must. Do not expect to necessarily find a cheap bottle, because you will more surely encounter a selection of fascinating “75 year old” or better pure malt for your eyes only, …. at a price beyond your wildest imagination. There are trails to satisfy every aspect of what Scotland has to offer. The Loch Ness trail, or said as a connoisseur, the Nessie trail. See if you can spot the monster along the shores of this seventy mile long Loch during a four to five hour drive around, visit the daunting Urguhart castle along the shore. Whatever trail you wish to venture on, be it a Castle trail, a Loch trail, a whiskey trail, there are for each and every one, many options in all corners of Scotland. You are sure to enjoy the very homely bed and breakfasts that abound across the country as well as the most impressive landscapes as you travel around a unique country of breath taking beauty at every turn.
